Microblend Latex Paint

For decades, paint has been manufactured at massive plants that ultimately must fill thousand of little pails. After being sorted, shipped, warehoused, inventoried, stocked and inventoried again, the paint costs far more than it did when it was made.

microblendMicroBlend™ is a new system that allows dealers to make any grade latex paint right in their own stores, eliminating many of the secondary costs. To make everything from lower-grade vinyl apartment paint to the best high-end acrylic, five liquid components are measured out in different ratios to within 1⁄10 of a gram. All quality grades and all sheen levels for both interior and exterior formulations can be created at the point of sale. Color is added afterwards.

The end result is extreme consistency of product and color, the company says. The paint is always fresh, so there’s no settling. Dealers can sell paint at a better price, and contractors won’t have to wait for delivery. The dealer no longer has to carry as much finished product, freeing up inventory dollars and floor space for other products.

MicroBlend paints are 100 percent water-borne and VOC compliant. Five gallons can be produced in less than two minutes. “With our system, you’re never out of product,” says MicroBlend’s David Philbrook.
