National Guild of Professional Paperhangers
The 2003 National Guild of Professional Paperhangers’ Forum and Tradeshow — featuring presentations, hands-on demonstrations, a business seminar and of course, a trade show — will take place Sept. 18-20 in Columbus, Ohio.
Robert Senior, president and CEO of The Zinsser Company, will be the keynote and set the mood on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 18. Then Nancy DeLapa Keny of the Sandler Sales Institute will discuss good business practices for the wallcovering installer. Jim Turner of Regency Wallcraft will talk about substrates and the effects on your hang. Nick Chicielo, head of the PDRA, will give some scary statistics about the industry and provide alternatives and solutions to many issues. Dan Falter, of Dan Falter Decorating, will demonstrate seaming techniques every installer needs to know.
And there’s more: retirement plans for small business owners; a panel discussion between manufacturers and installers; information on how to deal with mold; help with computers; and tips for organizing your home, office and even your truck.
Prior to the event, there will be educational classes on topics from scenics to upholstered walls and commercial wallcovering and removal. In addition, two of the Guild’s most experienced craftsmen will conduct a three-day hands-on class offering the basics of wallpaper hanging. The class, limited to 15 new or inexperienced hangers, will cover the types of wallcovering, wall preparation, estimating, terminology, tools and techniques.
