National Guild of Professional Paperhangers, NGPP
In early November 2003, the Cross House, operated by the Pioneer Boys Home, got a facelift thanks to the efforts of nine members of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers. The members removed existing wallpaper, patched walls and installed new wallcovering in five rooms of the home.
Imperial Home Decor Group and York Wallcoverings donated paper and borders. Mike Zekich of Safe & Simple Wallpaper Removal donated products and expertise to remove the multi-layers of old paper. Material used to repair the walls was donated by Flexi-Wall Systems.
Each year the Los Angeles chapter selects a charitable organization in the area to receive the free design package, consisting of decorating, materials and labor. The market value of this year's transformation of the Cross House exceeded $6,200.
