Aerial Work Platform Training

A certified training program for operators of all types of aerial work platforms has been established by Aerial Work Platform Training Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). The training center will be operated by Eckstine & Associates at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.

The program will be modeled after one developed by IPAF in Europe. It will equip operators to meet the needs of state and federal requirements, including those of ANSI, OSHA and CSA. Those who complete the program will receive a PAL, or Powered Access License, card for the types of aerial work platforms they have been trained to operate.

Dennis Eckstine, president of Eckstine & Associates, will help develop the curriculum. During his 27 years in the lift equipment industry, Eckstine has served as chairman of the International Standards Organization committees on work platforms and mobile cranes, and has been on the National Commission for Certification of Crane Operators.

For more information, visit the Aerial Work Platform Training Web site or call (717) 762-1911.
