Smith Color Wall & Smith Color Floor Acrylic Stains
Smith Color Wall and Smith Color Floor acrylic stains were created by Smith Paint Products for medium-porous surfaces. They are ideal for concrete, stucco and terra cotta.
and was a derivative of Smith Paint’s Ornamental Art line of stains. The Smith Color Wall line came out approximately four years ago, after the designers wanted to tweak the sheen; the wall sheen is more of a satin, whereas the floor is more of a flat.
Why have these products done so well with contractors? The primary reason is that application is very easy. What’s more, they produce completely natural appearances, their color consistency is precise, and they adhere very well to most surfaces. These factors help solidify the company’s belief that these products are superior to other stains on the market.
Both product lines are available in 19 hues spanning the color chart. Sheen variations include high chroma stain, metallic, iridescent and pearlescent.
Although these stains are mostly used in commercial jobs, there have been instances of residential use by contractors and flooring companies. While they are easy to use, preparation must be faultless. The application areas must be smooth, clean and clear of dust in order for these stains to adhere flawlessly.
When using Smith Color Floor stain to achieve a transparency effect, apply light coats using a high-volume low-pressure (HVLP) unit, a production gun, or a pump sprayer. If opacity is more pleasing, use a thick-nap roller and apply heavier coats. When applying the Smith Color Wall stains, use an airless sprayer for large areas and sea sponges or brushes for small areas.
