Sherwin-Williams E-Barrier Radiant Barrier Coating

E-Barrier, a new radiant barrier coating from Sherwin-Williams, contains microscopic reflective particles that help keep radiant energy from transferring in or out of homes or buildings. When applied to the underside of an uncoated roof deck, E-Barrier is designed to reflect radiant heat before it reaches the insulation or ceiling below, so rooms stay cooler in warm weather. In colder weather, these same features contribute to a structure’s insulation properties by helping to reflect existing heat back into the home or building.

E-Barrier can be offered by paint contractors year round as an additional service that will improve energy efficiency. The product can also be applied to the underside of previously coated commercial metal roof decking to provide the same cost-saving and comfort benefits as it does in residential use.

The coating forms a breathable film that prevents moisture buildup and mold. It requires very little prep work or masking, and no mixing. It is easy to apply with an airless sprayer, covering about 1,000 square feet per hour with minimal overspray, no drips or runs and very low odor. Only one thin coat is necessary.
