An Important Note On Elastomerics!
In our December issue of PaintPRO—the article on Elastomerics: The Best Defense Against Moisture Penetration, we stated that the use of a 50/50 blend of elastomeric and acrylic latex has been used in an effort to cut costs. However, experts like VIP Lighthouse Products only condone the use of pure elastomeric coatings. “To alter the formula will only insure future problems”, says Ray Heck, Vice President of Lighthouse Products.

Elastomeric coatings are utilized as a protective weather barrier against the elements and must be applied according to manufacturers specifications. It is imperative that the recommended mil thickness is achieved so that performance characteristics of the elastomeric coating are obtained and the system can function properly and provide the “Best Defense.”
