3M Blue Painters Tape
3M Blue Painters Tape

Manufacturing giant 3M makes three kinds of masking tape specifically geared to painters. The royal blue color of 3M painter’s tape is a company trademark.

Scotch-Blue painter’s tape No. 2080 for delicate surfaces provides razor-sharp paint lines on delicate and smooth surfaces, such as freshly painted walls, vinyl-coated wallpaper, glass, metal, and hardwood floors. The low-to-medium-adhesion tape boasts 60-day clean removal and resistance to sunlight and UV rays. The tape is ideal for faux and decorative painting.

Scotch-Blue painter’s tape No. 2090 works on multiple surfaces, from painted walls and trim to surfaces such as glass, metal and unpainted wood. This medium-adhesion tape offers 14-day clean removal and resistance to UV rays and sunlight.

Finally, there’s Scotch Safe-Release painter’s masking tape No. 2070 for very delicate surfaces. It works well on smooth surfaces, “dry-to-touch” fresh paint, ceiling tile, and paper and foil wallcoverings. This low-adhesion tape can be cleanly removed for up to seven days.
