Greenguard Standard for Children

Greenguard school standard helps kids breathe easy
Airborne toxins from paints, sealants and other construction materials can trigger illness, including asthma and other respiratory diseases in children.

That’s why the Greenguard Standard for Children & Schools, recently introduced by the Greenguard Environmental Institute, sets criteria for manufacturers to develop low-emitting materials for use in school buildings and daycare facilities.

The GEI created the new standard as an extension of the Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certification Program. The new standard takes the sensitive nature of school populations and schools’ unique building characteristics and maintenance conditions into consideration and presents the most rigorous emissions criteria to date.

The new standard and a product guide can be viewed at www.greenguard.org.
