Flood Co.'s vice president of operations wins FSCT Heckel award
Rick Hille, vice president of operations for The Flood Co. and a past president of The Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology (FSCT), was awarded the FSCT's highest honor, The 2006 George Baugh Heckel Award, during the FSCT's Annual General Meeting (AGM) today in New Orleans.
According to Gerry Gough, Heckel Award committee chair, Rick was selected for the award for his extraordinary service and efforts during a period of major transition. "Rick offered strong and effective leadership in serving as the FSCT's president by providing the impetus for the new governance structure to be put into place," he said. "While the efforts to make these changes happen were supported by and involved many other people, it was Rick's drive and enthusiasm that made it all happen."
Established in 1951, The George Baugh Heckel Award is considered the most prestigious FSCT award, honoring an individual whose contributions to the organization have been outstanding. The award is dedicated to the memory of George Baugh Heckel, who first formed the Federation as a collection of individual societies more than 80 years ago.
Hille has been a member of the FSCT since 1984, serving on its Executive Committee from 1988 to 1992 and 2001 to 2005 and the Board of Directors from 1985 to 1992 and 2000 to 2005. In addition, he led several FSCT committees and has been a strong advocate for expanding educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as for providing professional development programs for industry colleagues.
A member of the coatings industry for 38 years, Hille has been employed as vice president of operations with The Flood Company since 1996.
