Sepp Leaf Products Pride of Place 2006 Competition awards
Leaf Products' 2006 Pride of Place Competition recognized 17 artists and designers for outstanding achievement in Gilding, Decorative Finishing and Fine Wood Finishing. There were more than 100 entries for the second annual event. Some of the prizewinning firms include: Larson-Juhl for their Concerto Spanish picture frame; Scott Potter Designs' Christopher Hyland Collection, Grande Globe vessel; the John and Mable Ringling Museum's Historic Asolo Theatre; and Ernest Neuman Studios for two projects — the Minskoff Theatre and the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine.
Sepp Leaf Products also honored the Outstanding Dealer of the Year: Rose Brand, New York, which has supplied the theatrical and entertainment industries for more than 80 years.
The Pride of Place 2006 Awards were presented at the Sepp Leaf showroom in New York City on November 9. The competition featured the best in decorative finishes, fostering dialogue and innovation within the changing craft of gilding. In addition, this year Sepp Leaf presented Boston's North Bennet Street School with funds accumulated from all 2006 Pride of Place entry fees, providing scholarships for their Workshop Program, which offers classes in gilding, wood finishing and other traditional crafts.
