Wagner wipes out graffiti
Through a partnership with Wagner Spray Tech Inc., the City of St. Paul, Minn., is gaining a new weapon against graffiti: The Graffiti Wipe-Out Van, a truck equipped with the latest powered paint spray technology.
The specially equipped van is part of a pilot Graffiti Wipe-Out program that aims to wipe out graffiti within 48 hours of occurrence. The Van's new sprayers will aid in allowing the St. Paul Parks and Recreation Department to cover large "tags" in short order. In addition to donated equipment, Wagner's financial contribution allows the department to direct more staff to eliminate graffiti as soon as possible and offers the ability to purchase matching colors to cover graffiti so that park amenities can retain appropriate colors.
"Graffiti is vandalism — and it's costing residents and businesses. We may not be able to stop graffiti, but we can do more to control it," says Bob Bierscheid, St. Paul Parks and Recreation director. "The Graffiti Wipe-Out program gives us new tools to do just that."
The Graffiti Wipe-Out Van will be operated by the St. Paul Parks and Recreation Department. It will be equipped with Wagner's SprayTech GPX-750 airless stationary sprayer, a gas-operated unit, and the Wagner TS 9190 airless stationary sprayer, which can be used where electricity is available. In addition, Wagner's handheld, airless Power Painter sprayer will be available for small projects.
