Zinsser Tinted Amber Shellac Undercoat for Deep-Color Paints

Tinting Zinsser’s Bulls Eye Amber Shellac with universal colorants can create a deep-tone finish that serves as a perfect, fast-drying undercoat for bold or deep-tone finish paints. Bulls Eye Amber Shellac can be tinted with universal colorant or alcohol-soluble aniline dye. Tinting can create deep, dark colors like red, burgundy, purple, navy, hunter green, and black. One coat of tinted shellac allows deep-colored topcoats to cover and hide better than they can over tinted white-pigmented primers. Since the shellac dries in as little as 45 minutes (depending on the amount and type of colorant), the topcoat can be applied soon after, and generally only one coat of finish paint is needed.

Deep-tone shellac has outstanding adhesion to slick surfaces like metals and high-gloss coatings, and is an ideal base coat on interior surfaces like metal doors, door frames, and door jambs, new wood trim, Formica, Masonite, cabinetry, and paneling. Shellac can be top coated with an acrylic enamel or alkyd finish paint for long-lasting results.
