PPG Certified Applicator Program
PPG Industries Inc. has launched certified applicator and building renewal programs.
The PPG Certified Applicator Program awards certification to workers who meet quality control standards for the application of Duranar, Duranar XL, Coraflon EX and Acrynar FX high-performance coatings to extruded metal architectural products. The CAP program requires members to participate in a rigorous auditing program that encompasses all aspects of the coating process, from mixing, matching and formulation to application.
The PPG Building Renewal Program gives building owners and managers a one-stop resource for the coatings, glass and paint products and information they need to revive the appearance of older, weathered commercial buildings in the United States and Canada. According to PPG, the initiative is in part a response to the construction boom of the 1970s, which left North America with thousands of commercial building and skyscrapers that are now 30 years old.
PPG has also introduced an expanded list of continuing education programs through which architects and other building professionals can earn AIA/CES learning units. The list is comprised of 14 sessions covering everything from fluoropolymer coatings to volatile organic compounds.
On a side note, PPG has completed the integration of Megaflon MC and Megaflon EX factory-applied coatings into the company’s new Coraflon brand of architectural coatings. These products are now known as Coraflon MC and Coraflon EX. The Coraflon line consists of Coraflon MC coil coatings, Coraflon EX spray-applied extrusion coatings, and Coraflon ADS field-applied spray coatings.
More about these programs can be found at on the PPG Ideascapes Web site, or by calling (888) 774-4332.
