Faux Like A Pro “Works Like A Charm”
In 1995 a husband and wife team, comprised of an internet guru and an accomplished painter, launched a new web site called Faux Like A Pro (www.fauxlikeapro.com). Before the “virtual” ink could dry in cyberspace, the unique venture was off and running in a BIG way.
Just four years later the site is visited by over 1,000 people per day, with over 350,000 pages viewed each month. The audience is comprised mainly of do-it-yourselfers, faux finishing professionals, and trade professionals such as designers and contractors seeking up to date faux finishing information at a “one stop” source.
The Web site is designed and maintained by Boston Based Golden Touch, Inc., owned and operated by Mark London. Sandra Kiss-London and her talented team perform the artistic work seen throughout the Web site. With more than a colorful decade of decorative painting experience in Los Angeles and now Boston, Sandra has used and tested hundreds of products in her career, both as a consultant to industry and the CEO of her own interior design firm. Her work on Faux Like a Pro has been featured frequently in such publications as Better Homes and Gardens, Woman’s Day and Canadian House and Home.
The site Message board, where viewers can post questions to various topics, has over 3,000 postings and growing. Fauxlikeapro.com also offers a new “Finish of the Month” and an on-line shopping section with bargain prices on faux finish supplies. Come January, 2000, the company will begin offering their own water base glazing liquid with one of the longest “open-time” in the industry.
On November 1st, Faux Like A Pro launch a new online “Business Directory”, giving professional painters the opportunity to showcase their work to a vast, targeted audience - the reaction has been instantaneous. The site offers page after page of illustrations, decorative finishes, explanations of painting techniques, step-by-step directions and paint pro tips and tricks. In other words, it offers answers to every-thing in faux! You’ll even find a LIVE chat room.
