The Elcometer 456 utilizes the measurement techniques of electromagnetic induction and eddy current to measure a wide variety of coatings on either ferrous metal or nonferrous metal substrates.

The device incorporates a full graphics menu-driven display, which is easy to use and provides on-screen instructions for calibration and set up. The tool is available in both integral and separate probe versions. The PINIP Plug-In Integral Probe converts the separate probe gauge into an integral gauge for single-handed use.
